Therapy
I have been trained in a number of interventions that have been scientifically tested and proven to work. I integrate techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavior therapy approaches including parent-management training (PMT) and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), and mindfulness. In my work with children, therapy involves parents extensively. This is to ensure that caregivers are getting information about the strategies being used, practicing them in the real world, and providing input about their child’s progress.
I consider it a privilege to partner with clients to work toward overcoming obstacles in their lives. While my training allows me to suggest interventions that I am confident are effective, I use these strategies flexibly. My goal is to apply them with consideration for an individual’s unique strengths, background, and preferences. And, with all clients, ongoing discussion and feedback about progress is a very important component of therapy. Overall, my goal in therapy is to use proven strategies to help you make healthy changes that work for your child and family.
